Saturday 1st September 2018 2 - 4 pm 'Sound & Sound Healing' a talk and actual experience presented by David Ford
In relation to Theosophy, the commonality permeating every Religion is Vibration, which manifests the Universe at every level.
In the first part of the presentation, which will last approximately an hour, the rationale of Sound Healing will be discussed. A simple definition is the therapeutic application of sound frequencies to the body/mind of a person with the intention of bringing them into a state of harmony and health.
In contemporary Western culture it is beginning to emerge why indigenous cultures across time and space have been very much in tune with the natural sounds and harmony of nature. Scientific developments over recent decades are substantiating what the Ancients and Vitalists (in contradistinction with the Mechanist camp) knew well.
Some of the subjects the talk will touch upon are harmonics, musical intervals and ratio, rhythm, dissonance and entrainment, thought and emotion, electromagnetism and subtle energy, intention, the energy centres, sound conduction, sonic signature of physical organs, intention.
The second part of the presentation will be experiential. It is not practical to do individual treatments with a larger group of course, hence the Sound Bath will be given to demonstrate something of the power of Sound. After a short guided meditation, a variety of instruments will be sounded. The benefits of a Sound Bath are best gained whilst lying down. It is important to be comfortable, so it is advisable to bring a duvet, or similar to lie on, a pillow for extra comfort and a blanket to cover yourself, as we can become cooler whilst lying in prone position for over 45 minutes. If you have an eye mask, or scarf you might like to cover your eyes. These can fairly comfortably fit into a bin liner or similarly sized holder. Don't be surprised if you lose track of time during the bath..

Constructing a Spritual Warrior based on a recent piece of artistic work.
The exhibition supports his permanent Corten steel sculpture of a Centurion, outside of the museum, with the title ‘Sentius Tectonicus’. There are hidden passageways within the work (mystical symbolism) and it’s intended as a spiritual warrior.

Mystery Cults of Roman Britain
Roman Britain was home to a number of “Mystery Cults”. The Mystery Cults were rites that sought the perfection of the individual through ritual and initiation. These included the rites of Orpheus, Dionysius, and Isis as well as those of Mithras and even early Christianity. In this talk we will explore these religions with a special emphasis on psychogeography of local sites.
